Racer Simon Belcher Tests Clio at Mallory Park
Simon Belcher has been racing in the Legends for six years and
is now looking for a new challenge with a possible move to the
ELF Renault Clio Cup Championship.
Simon tested the Amery Motorsport team car at Mallory Park and
coming from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive, along with
driving on slicks, meant it was a steep learning curve on the
day.
After an early spin on cold tyres and adapting to a different
driving style, it was not long before Simon got to grips with
the car and took more than a second off his earlier lap times.
Simon told the team, “Although the car is a lot different
to the Legends I normally drive,
I really did like the Clio and once I’d got heat into the
slicks and adapted my driving style, it was great fun to drive
and hopefully with the help from my sponsors I will be able to
race in 2009 with Amery Motorsport”.
